PRIVACY POLICY AT HOWDEN SAGGERS LAWYERS
This policy describes the way that Howden Saggers Lawyers collects, holds and discloses information relating to our clients.
We are bound by and comply with the provisions of the Privacy Act 1988 (Commonwealth) and the National Privacy Principles contained in the Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Act 2000 (Commonwealth).
Collecting and holding personal information
Whilst acting on a client’s behalf, we will inevitably collect personal information. This includes:
- names, addresses, occupations and contact information
- information about health, criminal history and community references.
We collect personal information that is necessary in order to act on behalf of our clients and to fulfil our duty to our clients.
Using and disclosing personal information
We respect our clients’ privacy. We will use personal information gathered for the purposes for which it was collected and any related purpose which was not initially obvious. At all times, the information will used to fulfil our legal obligations to our clients.
We may disclose personal information for the purposes for which it was collected, or as permitted under National Privacy Principles or with the client’s consent.
Use of case material on website
Occasionally details of cases, once they have been made the subject of public record, will be included on our website for promotional reasons. We will not of course disclose any personal details relating to the parties involved.
