WHO WE ARE

Mark Howden and Peter Saggers

Mark and Peter are Criminal Law Accredited Specialists. This means they are recognised by the Queensland Law Society as having completed the stringent requirements to become specialists. Indeed the Queensland Law Society recognises only a handful of specialists throughout the State.

Mark is a member of the Queensland Law Society Criminal Law Committee and regularly presents papers to conferences and seminars. He is a former barrister and has appeared in jury trials in the District and Supreme Courts. Mark was admitted to practice in 1988 and has practised in criminal law since 1991.

Peter graduated with honours in law and has an extensive network of contacts throughout Queensland. He maintains a close relationship to senior members of the Queensland Bar. He has represented clients in numerous high profile matters including R v Aboud where he secured an acquittal for a woman charged with murdering her husband.

Our team

In addition to Mark and Peter, our team comprises 6 lawyers.

Kristie, in addition to practising criminal law, has an interest in children’s matters. This includes cases involving the Department of Child Safety.

Kate has a number of years experience having worked not only in private practice, but was also an in-house lawyer at the DPP and at Legal Aid Victoria before joining Howden Saggers Lawyers.

Howden Saggers Lawyers recently acquired Inala Lawyers & Associates and the criminal law files previously conducted by that firm.  Kevin Cartledge and Sasanka (‘Sunny’) Munasinghe now manage that practice.

Kevin previously managed our Logan office.   He was an in-house lawyer at the DPP before being recruited by Howden Saggers Lawyers in 2007. He conducts all his own advocacy and is highly regarded by both prosecutors and defence advocates.

Sunny was previously an employee of Inala Lawyers & Associates and on acquisition of that firm, commenced employment with Howden Saggers Lawyers.  He is experienced in both criminal law and care and protection cases.
