Emily became interested in criminal law at an early stage of her career through her time with the Innocence Project and her honours thesis examined the forensic use of DNA evidence in criminal trials.
Emily is a bit of a book worm – whether it is classic literature, travel memoirs, crime fiction or criminal law texts, she loves to read and learn new things. She puts this love of reading to good use and uses her knowledge of the criminal justice system to assist clients and to make navigating the waters of the justice system easier. Criminal law is constantly changing and she works hard at keeping updated with the changes in the law and procedure to get the best result for her clients.
Emily is friendly, efficient, hard working and understands that keeping in regular communication with people is important. She believes you have just as much right to know what’s going on with your matter as the lawyers do and to have it explained in a way that makes sense.

Bettina was born and raised on the Gold Coast. In her spare time she enjoys going on picnics and venturing to new cafes where she can drink her chai lattes.
She began her passion for the criminal justice system when she began working for Prisoners’ Legal Service. It was here she was able to gain insight as to the ins and outs of jails in Queensland. She regularly helped people with their parole applications and assisted families in understanding what was happening to their loved one while in custody.
In 2014 Bettina began working for Howden Saggers Lawyers where she gained an appreciation for the court processes. She now attends court on a daily basis and uses her knowledge and experience in working with those caught up in the criminal justice system to get the best results possible.
