Noel is a former RAN senior NCO who served in the Vietnam War and as part of the Far East Strategic Forces. After his separation from the Navy, he pursued a career in business before owning and operating a Thoroughbred Horse stud on Queensland’s Dowling Downs.
In 1996, Noel commenced study with the Training & Information Program (TIP), funded by the Department of Veterans Affairs, in the areas of Veterans & Defence Entitlements; after completing the full suite of courses on offer, he moved to complete the Tribunal Advocacy Course at the University of Canberra.
Between 1998 and 2005 Noel was a course presenter and coordinator of Veteran entitlements courses with TIP and the DVA. Noel became a consultant to various law practices in 2006, and remains in that role today, with Howden Saggers Lawyers.
Noel is a published writer of an autoreactive work, regarding the Navy’s involvement in the Vietnam War, this publication has been used in Federal and High Court cases; as well as being an invited contributor the Australian Government Publication “Our War – Our Peace”, reflections on the war in Vietnam.
Noel had a nautical work recently published in the UK by the University of Cornwall and by the United States Navy. In 2002 Noel received a Moncrieff Award for his services to military veterans; in 2005 Noel was awarded a Medal in the Order of Australia for his services to the Naval Association of Australia. Noels other interest through life was sport; in 1986 Noel received an Australia Day Medal for Achievement in Sport.
